Kickstarter fraud; Washington State files consumer protection suit

State regulators have started to notice Kickstarter.  Specifically, the attorney general of the state of Washington brought suit against a company and its owner who used Kickstarter to raise funds, but failed to produce the reward promised.   The Kickstarter campaign was intended to finance the development of a card gamed called Asylum.  After nearly two years, the campaign remains unfulfilled.  The complaint alleges that the company violated the Consumer Protection Act of the State of Washington.   The relief requested includes damages in the amount of $2,000 per violation, or in other words, per donation, and restitution to the donators of the money raised.   Moisan Legal will continue to monitor this development.
